Junior Mite

A junior mite is a level of ice hockey below mite level three but above mite level two. In which if the player feels he or she is beyond level of intensity in mite level two and is overly challenged in mite level three, they can play junior mites. Junior mites is only available in Minnesota, and is often played in a tournament located in Duluth, MN. A junior mite many times is confused with another level of hockey, called Junior Gold. These are different. Junior gold is for high schoolers who cannot make a varisty or a junior varsity team.

Lee Graves is everybody in the world and has been every single president. He was a master shredder on the guitar his favorite in particular was a solid gold Kramer Vanguard with a digitech whammy bar and a black killswitch button. He was the manager for Metallica from 1981-1986. The reason he quit was becausehe realized that Cliff Burton was the only person who was as godly as he was.


Personal Life

Lee Graves had one kid in the prehistoric time with a T-Rex. Their was a huge scandel because their was a tape released on the one nighter and the mother pressed charges for lee to pay child support. Their was an agreement made out of court and is confidential.

Lee Graves was born before the dinosaurs and the reason for the extinction of them was because he shot them with rockets that came out of his eyes and then he created every sport and after that he created the musical genres of Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal,Neo-Classical Death Metal, and Classic Rock (actually he just gave it the name), and Progressive metal


The Tragic Diesease

Lee Graves suffered form tourettesaphobia for his whole life. Tourettesaphobia is the fear of tourettes and if he see's anyone with the disorder he breaks out in hives and shakes uncontrollably.

The New Kid On The Block

In 1999 he went to Coshocton High School and participated in every sport except soccer. In football he played Quarterback and and he was a lock down Corner. He passed for a QB rating of 500 and threw 589 touckdown passes his freshman year. On defense he recorded 20 sacks a game and 5 interceptions. During basketball he led his team to the state championships where he met LeBron James who was challenging him for the #1 pick in the NBA draft.


A Tragic Death

Before the game he was found dead in a closet where somebody locked him with 5 guys with tourettes. He died on impact.


His Legacy Lives On

Today Lee Graves is worshiped by several 8th grade students at coshocton high school. His trademark #00 is retired for every sport he played in. Clay Turner just recently wrote a biography about Lee's life and is currently for sale in Mrs. Slusser's 5th Period Comparative Literature class

Insertformulahere What Are the Major Theories of Biology? The science of biology is as diverse as the living forms with which it is concerned. However, there are unifying themes, “big ideas,” that emerge from this diversity to make sense of it all and provide a framework for understanding biology. BioInquiry is organized around the most important of these big ideas. In the upcoming paragraphs, we will introduce the unifying themes of biology and the people whose names are connected with them. As we shall see in BioInquiry, however, all of these ideas had long histories and cannot truly be credited to a single person. The names associated with the ideas are of the people who first tested them scientifically. Today, after decades of confirmation, these ideas are the major theories of biology.

===Evolution by Natural Selection=== Charles Darwin was among the first to propose a scientifically testable explanation for the diversity of life, or, in other words, why there are so many different kinds of living things on Earth. Darwin’s theory of evolution1 by natural selection has two parts. First, species (distinct forms of life) change or evolve over the generations. Second, the mechanism for this species change is called natural selection. Both aspects of Darwin’s theory are discussed in Chapter 2. Today, evolution by natural selection is accepted by nearly all scientists as biology’s most important theory. Indeed, most agree that contemporary biology began when Darwin published his book, The Origin of Species, in 1859. More than any other single idea, evolution ties together and interrelates with all of the other ideas and theories of biology.

===Inheritance=== At the same time that Darwin was formulating his theory of biological evolution, Gregor Mendel, a monk living in a monastery in Eastern Europe, was grappling with another concept: How are traits from parents inherited by offspring? The principles of inheritance proposed from his experiments with common pea plants have been successfully applied to all organisms. Mendel proved that the traits, or characteristics, of organisms pass from one generation to the next (Figure 1-5) by means of hereditary “factors,” now called genes. Darwin and Mendel published their first significant findings within a few years of each other, but unlike Darwin, Mendel’s results were largely ignored for the first 35 years. They were rediscovered in the early 20th century and have since become one of the foundation stones of modern biology. Chapter 3 explains Mendel’s findings; Chapter 8 puts them in the context of Darwinian evolution and shows how intimately connected these two ideas—evolution and inheritance—really are. One of the triumphs of 20th-century biology was how much we were able to extend our understanding of genes and inheritance, a process that continues today. Indeed, Gregor Mendel’s results gave rise to the modern science of genetics and molecular biology.

===Cells=== Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann, contemporaries of both Darwin and Mendel, proposed the cell theory, which states that all organisms are composed of cells, and that all cells come from preexisting cells. They realized that the cell is the smallest unit capable of exhibiting all of the characteristics of life. Unlike Darwin’s and Mendel’s theories, this one owes its discovery to technology. Cells could not be observed until after the microscope was developed and refined around the beginning of the 17th century. Thereafter, people could see things not visible to the unaided eye. The history and implications of the cell theory, as it came to be known, are described in Chapter 4.

===Biological Classification=== Not all of biology’s main ideas were first articulated in the 19th century. Biological classification started much earlier. Biologists deal with millions of species. Organizing and keeping track of so many “items” is a daunting task. In the late 18th century, Carolus Linneaus distinguished himself by classifying living organisms according to their similarities and differences. Thanks to Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection, nearly one hundred years later, classification schemes came to be based less on similarities and differences in form and more on evolutionary relatedness among species. Species that diverged from the same ancestors were grouped into the same categories. This evolutionary approach is how we organize and classify organisms today.

===Bioenergetics=== The energy that powers life operates according to the same rules that govern energy in the inanimate universe. Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier’s experiments of the late 18th century helped to place the chemistry of life into the context of a larger understanding of chemistry and energetics. Some of the important principles that have emerged from those experiments, including the unique network of chemical reactions in cells (metabolism).

===Homeostasis=== In the mid-19th century, Claude Bernard realized that organisms function best when their internal conditions are maintained within rather narrow limits. Organisms tolerate widely varying external conditions by maintaining stable conditions internally—a condition known as homeostasis. The manner in which they do so constitutes the study of physiology. We address some of the many strategies that different organisms have evolved to maintain a constant internal environment.

===Ecosystems=== Organisms interact with each other and with their environments. Changes in any part of the biological community or the physical environment invariably cause changes in other parts. This concept recognizes that organisms do not exist alone, but are part of populations of similar beings, communities comprising many different living things, and environments that include important nonliving features. This is the youngest of biology’s major ideas, a product largely of the 20th century. Unlike the other major theories of biology, this one has no readily identifiable “parent.” Rather it was forged more slowly by a widely separated and diverse group of specialists. It is perhaps the most complex of biological concepts, fusing together not only major ideas of biology, but other sciences as well. The concept is the backbone of ecology ignored.

Calvin Dean

(Born 21 May 1985) is a British actor.

Calvin Dean spent a number of years with the National Youth Theatre (NYT), appearing in a number of productions including 'The Threepenny Opera', 'Murder in the Cathedral', 'Hanging Around' (co-produced with Kneehigh Theatre & the National Theatre) and 'Watch Over Me'. He then went on to train at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. Whilst training Calvin appeared in 'The American Clock', 'The Threepenny Opera' and 'Happy Families'.

He has recently completed filming the new feature film 'The Duchess' alongside Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes. Directed by Saul Dibb. In January 2008 Calvin will start filming 'Suicide Kids', playing the character of Subzero.

Andrew Waber Brush was born on April 13, 1988 to parents Jon and Loyann. Brush attended Delaware Hayes High School until 10th grade and then moved to The Columbus Academy in Gahanna, Ohio to finish high school.

Brush founded HomeLife Media Group in January 2005 with business partners Paul Milligan and Don Rankey, both of Delaware. HomeLife Media Group is a video production and marketing company.

City Council

Brush is reportedly the youngest person ever to be elected to Delaware's city council. Brush was elected on November 6, 2007 to represent the city's Fourth Ward. He was sworn to office on November 19, 2007.

Brush won the election in a contested race for the seat between a total of six candidates including Charlotte Joseph, Rob Fogle, Roger Collom, Lynn Hlavin, and Jack Hollerman.

Some of the issues Brush has focused on include an intersection of two main roads on the city's east side as well as the use of executive session before city council meetings.

NoDQ Caw was an internet based simulated wrestling promotion. Using the video games Wrestlemania XIX and later WWE Day Of Reckoning. It began with single matches available to download, using notable characters from comic books and movies. Most prominently, the matches featured Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Micheal Myers, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Mr Clean and Wolverine. The matches frequently involved Pro-Wrestling style storylines, with feuds often ending at the "Mega Events". The commentary was originally provided by Wade Needham by himself. By mid 2004, Needham was commentating as himself and under the alias of Bobby Spade at the same time. After NoDQ Caw's End Of An Era, the single match series was stopped and two weekly shows were produced. NoDQ Eastern (produced by Bobby Spade) and NoDQ Pacific (produced by Wade Needham). They were the on screen authority figures, and had separate, drafted rosters. (The Draft occured prior to End Of An Era) They had their own brand splits as well, with seperate championships. Notably, Wolverine was phased out at this time, due to difficulty creating him on Day of Reckoning's C-A-W system. This lead to the prominence of Hulk, and the Mario Brothers, who although they did not debut at this time, became much more integral to the show. Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) also became an authority figure for NoDQ Eastern. The Terminator also became an important player in Eastern, along with the debuting Joker, and the revamped Leatherface. Both shows also began including ex-wrestlers, and real people in their storylines. (e.g. Bruce Lee, Razor Ramon) The shows continued, with their own seperate Mega Events (akin to the WWE's brand division) until mid 2005, when they ran joint events. 2005 marked NoDQ CAW becoming less of a routine show and dissolved into a series of one off matches and the occasional mega event, similar to the routine at its conception. In 2006 NoDQ launched a CAW Cup event, which was a succesful long running tournament. This repeated itslef in 2007. In the later years of NoDQ (2006/07) many new characters rose to prominence, including Luigi, Jack Sparrow and Frankenstein's Monster. Superman, was perhaps the only character to remain vital to the show throughout its life, reigning as Champion many times, fending off challengers from the 3 established eras of the show.

To this day, all episodes of NoDQ Wrestling have been free.

Gergő Kis (born January 19, 1988 in Tapolca) is a Hungarian freestyle swimmer.

He was there on the 2004 Summer Olympics in Men's 1500m freestyle and he was ranked 23rd in the heats[1]. On the 2006 European Junior Swimming Championships he won gold medal in 400 meters medley with 4:16.82 championships record[2], got silver medal in 200 meters butterfly and finished 4th in 1500 meters freestyl swimming.

On the 2007 European Short Course Swimming Championships he finished third in 400 meters freestyle[3] and won silver medal in 1500 meters freestyle[4].

The .950 JDJ cartridge is a large-bore rifle cartridge developed by J.D. Jones of SSK Industries [2]. Jones is also the noted developer of many other well-known cartridges, such as the .300 Whisper and .338 Whisper.

Cartridge

The .950 JDJ is among the world's most-powerful, and largest-caliber, rifle cartridges. Loaded .950 JDJ cartridges are approximately the length of an empty .50 BMG cartridge (ie, 4"), and are based on a 20mm Vulcan case shortened and necked down to accept the .950" bullet. Projectiles are custom-made and most commonly weigh 3600 grains (8.2 ounces, or over half a pound).

Rifles

As its name implies, rifles chambered for the cartridge have a bore diameter of 0.950", classifying them as Destructive Devices under the 1934 National Firearms Act. It is possible that SSK could seek a "Sporting Use Exception" to de-regulate the rifles, but it is unlikely that they will attempt this given the limited market for such weapons. The rifles themselves, of which only a handful have been made, use McMillan stocks and extraordinarily thick Krieger barrels bearing an 18lb muzzle break. Overall, depending on options, the rifles weigh between 80 and 110 pounds and are therefore only useful for shooting from a bench rest or heavy bipod. Despite the weight, recoil is significant, and shooters must be sure to choose components (ie, scopes and bipods) that can handle the abuse. The sheer size and weight of these weapons makes them impractical for hunting use, as they cannot be carried afield. Thus, though impressive, they are largely "range queens" - rifles that are brought to the range for a fun time, but not usually used for hunting or other "more practical" uses.

Ballistics

The .950 JDJ has become something of an internet legend, and is frequently cited as an example of a "ridiculously large" cartridge, thanks to its overwhelming ballistic figures. The cartridge drives its aformentioned 3600gr bullet at approximately 2,200fps. This yields a muzzle energy of 38,687 ft-lbs. For comparison, the 5.56x45 cartridge, used in the M-16 rifle, produces approximately 1,200-1,300 ft-lbs. The .308 Winchester, a favorite for hunters and medium-range police/military sniping, produces between 2,000 and 3,000 ft-lbs depending on the load used. The .950 JDJ produces a colossal amount of energy by comparison. In a 110lb rifle, this will develop well over 200ft-lbs of free recoil energy if an efficient muzzle break is not used. This is far beyond the shoulder-firing capacity of nearly all humans, even without considering the difficult of shouldering such a heavy rifle. Shooting should be done with a heavy "lead sled" or similar shooting rest, and the rifle should not be held to the shoulder unless the shooter is prepared for severe recoil and possible injury. The rifle scope should have significant eye relief to avoid injuring the ocular orbit.

Hubble orbits Earth every 97 minutes, 575 kilometers (360 miles) above the Earth's surface.

The Lord Chandos Letter

Introduction

The Letter of Lord Chandos is a fictional letter written by Hugo Von Hofmannsthal in 1902 about a writer named Lord Philip Chandos who is experiencing a crisis of language. The letter is dated August 1603 and addressed to Francis Bacon, with the fictional Lord Chandos as the author.

Plot Summary

The letter begins with a summary of the great literary feats that Chandos once achieved. Then Chandos writes of his current mental state. He has reached a crisis point in his career concerning language and its ability to adequately express the human experience. Chandos has abandoned all future written projects, which he once proposed with exuberance, because of his inability to express himself in a meaningful fashion. Chandos describes the development of his crisis in stages. First came the loss of the ability to conduct academic discourse on matters of morality or philosophy. Next, he lost the function to make everyday conversation regarding opinions or judgments. Lastly he turned to the classics, works by Cicero and Seneca, in an attempt to cure his literary ailment but could make no sense of them and his condition continued to decline. Chandos describes his state at present as, “…[having] lost completely the ability to think or speak of anything coherently.” [1] Chandos experiences extreme moments of transcendence, where epiphanies on life and the spirit overwhelm him. However, these moments are brief in nature and once they have passed Chandos is incapable of expressing the insight he uncovered moments before. These epiphanies are the highlight of Chandos’ existence, and outside of them his life is stagnant and barren. Chandos often feels he is on the brink of recovery as thoughts begin to form in his mind. But like the epiphanies they are soon lost in his inability to write. This failure of language has robbed him of self-confidence and creativity. The end result is Chandos as a broken man mourning his lost abilities. Chandos ultimately says he will write no more in any known language.

Biographical and Cultural Content

The Lord Chandos Letter is a stark contrast from the early works and poetry of Hoffmansthal. He was a poet who had a command over language in his early poetry centered on the “inner self” [2] that had characterized his time as a member of the elite literary circle Young Vienna. Instead, in his writing The Lord Chandos Letter, Hofmannsthal abandons poetry and his work on aesthetics much to the disappointment of his readers. The Lord Chandos Letter was written during the fin de siècle, a clash between the old social order and a development of new thought and means of expression. Central figures of the movement such as Hofmannsthal, Sigmund Freud, Ernst Mach and Ludwig Wittgenstein witnessed the transformation of society but were dismayed by their inability to affect change in a modern society that was “hopelessly pluralistic; lacking in cohesion or direction” [3] In his letter, Hofmannsthal mentions a sickness of the mind which emerged from on the inability of language to sufficiently express oneself amidst social and political turmoil. The preoccupation with a crisis of language is most famously recognized in his Lord Chandos Letter. Hofmannsthal’s position on the subject of language closely resembled that of Ludwig Wittgenstein who dominated the discussion of the critique of language for nearly a century in Viennese society. Wittgenstein admired Hofmannsthal’s work, especially The Lord Chandos Letter in which Hofmannsthal alluded to Wittgenstein’s ideas that “language is the limit of our world” [4] The seemingly incompatible relationship between language and experience is a motif of twentieth century European works and manifested itself in art and music from Gustav Klimt and Arnold Schoenberg respectively.

Critical Analysis

Erwin Kobel is an example of a critic who uses biographical evidence from Hofmannsthal’s life to show the autobiographical links between his life and the Lord Chandos Letter. Thomas Kovach argues that “so many critics viewed [the Lord Chandos Letter] as an autobiographical document” because of Hofmannsthal’s personal literary crisis that stemmed from his own self-doubt. [5] However, he continues to argue that while there are apparent autobiographical elements of the work, most critics agree that The Lord Chandos Letter is in fact a work of fiction. He supports this claim by revealing the anomaly that Hofmannsthal is able to eloquently write about a crisis of language. That this work is fiction is reinforced by the fact that Hofmannsthal had a literary career past the publishing of the Lord Chandos Letter, whereas Lord Chandos promises never to compose again. Kovach presents another possible interpretation of the work. He writes that the crisis of language should be viewed as deeper than simply a predicament of communication and the limits of language. Since language is used to express thought, he concludes that the crisis examined by Hofmannsthal should be seen as one of cognition in addition to one of language; he asserts that Chandos is unable to write clearly because he is unable to think clearly. [6] Another opinion on the Lord Chandos Letter is that it is evidence of an existential crisis. This existential crisis is related to the reconstruction of fin-de-siècle¬ Vienna and the ensuing crisis felt by society. With the transition to an industrial society, forms and manners of expression previously deemed effective were no longer capable of articulating the thoughts and ideas of Viennese society. Michael Morton, another critic views the crisis reflected in The Lord Chandos Letter as a set of predicaments. He feels Hofmannsthal expresses dilemmas of the self and of language. He argues that Chandos’ crisis is a conflict between viewing the self as a subject or as an object. The second conflict he sees in the work is a conflict regarding the functionality and usefulness of language. It terms of the utility of language, Morton presents the tension between ideas being built around language rather than vice-versa, language attempting to have more power than it is meant to have, and language trying to explain ideas and truths above its capabilities. [7] Jacques le Rider analyzes Hofmannsthal’s choice of Francis Bacon as the recipient of the letter. Le Rider recognizes elements of Ernst Mach’s works within the Lord Chandos Letter; Francis Bacon can be identified as the individual who laid the foundation for the work of Ernst Mach. Ernst Mach’s works discusses the elimination of barriers between “inside and outside, the self and the world.” [8]

Paul Brickman

Paul Brickman was born in 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, USA and is an American screenwriter and film director.

He is best known for the film Risky Business where he served as director and screenwriter. Brickman began his career as a camera assistant and story analyst.

He directed his second film Men Don't Leave in 1990.
