Balazs L. Gyorffy

Template:Afc r

Balazs L. Gyorffy is a Hungarian-born, British-American physicist, best known for developing, with his collaborators, the method known as "KKR-CPA" [1]. This method is widely used today to calculate the electronic properties of metallic alloys. More generally, his research has focused on the theory of condensed matter, with particular emphasis on Alloy Physics, Magnetism and Superconductivity from a point of view which describes matter as positively charged point nuclei held together by an electron 'glue' described by Many-Body Quantum Mechanics [2].

Balazs Gyorffy has authored or co-authored 215 publications which have received nearly 5000 citations [3]. He was elected an external member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1995 and named a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 1998. He was co-recipient of the Gordon Bell Prize in 1998 and received the William Hume-Rothery Award in 2001 [4].

Neivamyrmex: Genus of New World Army Ants

Template:Afc r

Template:Tlx. This looks like patent nonsense. Please use reliable sources next time. Shalom (HelloPeace) 19:31, 25 September 2007 (UTC) Neivamyrmex is the largest genus of New World army ants, in the subfamily Ecitoninae. The genus reaches its highest species richness at tropical latitudes (especially in the Amazon basin), but the geoghraphic ranges of some species extend into the continental US as far north as Nebraska, central California, and Virginia. Most species raid for prey in weak, single-file columns of workers. Typical prey are brood pillaged from the nests of other ants. Many Neivamyrmex species forage mainly or exclusively underground; hence, their behavior and ecology is poorly known.

Jason Seguine (b. July 24, 1967) is an American professional wrestler and former football player, known by his ringname Buck Quartermain, who competes in Southeastern regional promotions including Independent Pro Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance-affiliated NWA Florida. He had also had brief stints in the World Wrestling Council, World Wrestling Entertainment and NWA: TNA as the tag team partner of Lex Lovett during the early 2000s.

As of 2007, Quartermain began negotiating to appear on WWE's Extreme Championship Wrestling band as well as touring Japan with Osamu Nishimura's MUGA WORLD promotion.

He is also a current instructor at Steve Keirn's Pro Wrestling School of Hard Knocks.

Early life and career

Born in Tampa, Florida, Seguine attended Westmore College playing college football, basketball and baseball becoming a three sport letterman before his graduation. He later played as a defensive back for Jacksonville State University before making the third round draft by the Toronto Argonauts.

Following his retirement from the Canadian Football League, Seguine began training under Jimmy Del Ray making his professional debut in 1991 as Buck Quartermain. A mainstay on the Florida independent circuit, Seguine competed for Independent Pro Wrestling and NWA Florida during much of his early career.

During early 1995, he had a brief stint in the World Wrestling Federation and although having little success against opponents such as Jeff Jarrett and Hunter Hearst Helmsley wrestling on Monday Night Raw he did score defeat The Brooklyn Brawler in a dark match at the 1995 Royal Rumble in his hometown of Tampa on January 22, 1995.

Training under Dory Funk, Jr. at the Funking Conservatory for a brief time in 1999, he retuned to the WWF appearing on Sunday Night Heat in January 2000 and on Jakked in January 2001. He also wrestled for World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling before their close during early 2001.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment

In 2004, Quartermain began wrestling for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and, while initially a preliminary wrestler during his first few months with the promotion, he eventually formed a successful tag team with Lex Lovett and manager Johnny Fairplay (substituting for an injured Roderick Strong, the two would face each other in a match for the NWA Southern Heavyweight Championship at NWA Florida's supercard Rage in the Cage 7 on February 26, 2005). [1]

However, after loosing to The Naturals at TNA Destination X on March 13, [2] the tag team would eventually be phased out from TNA PPV events during the next year and, after Lovett's retirement in June 2005, Seguine returned to the independent circuit defeating Bruce Steele, Steve Madison and Roderick Strong to win Elite Wrestling Entertainment's Florida's Strongest Tournament on July 22, 2005. Teaming with Roderick Strong only one week later, they fought to a double disqualification against Steve Madison and Chris Kanyon on July 30, 2005.

The following month, with Lovett in his corner, Quartermain defeated Glacier at a Coastal Championship Wrestling event becoming the number one contender for the CCW heavyweight title on August 13 and defeated Steve Madison, Chris Kanyon and Erick Stevens for EWE in a no disqualification match with The Marker Crashers on August 19, 2005.

He also made a one time appearance on Monday Night Raw as Buck Quartermaine teaming with Steve Madison to lose to The Big Show in a handicap match in Tampa on August 29, 2005. [3] He would also appear on Smackdown in a tag team match with Antonio Banks against The Shane Twins in a dark match on September 1.

Back on the independent circuit, he lost to Mike Sullivan in a four way match with Bruce Steel and his former tag team partner Lex Lovett at an IPW Hardcore event on September 17, 2005. Defeating Tom Lawler & J.P. Ace in a tag team match with The Saint while in Pro Wrestling Warfare the following month, he finally made he and Lovett made their return to TNA loosing to The Naturals on TNA Impact on October 29.

At TNA Turning Point, he lost a 6-man tag team match to Lance Hoyt and The Naturals with Joe Doering and Jon Bolen on December 11 and, in Elite Wrestling Entertainment, he wrestled Mike Sullivan to a no contest on December 17, 2005.

Appearing in TNA in a part time capacity, he and Lovett appeared on TNA Impact during early 2006 loosing to Team 3-D on January 7 and the James Gang on January 21, 2006 [4]; they were also defeated by The Naturals at an Elite Wrestling Entertainment event that same night.

Defeating Tom Lawlor & J.P. Ace at a Pro Wrestling Warfare event on February 25, he would lose to Jeff Jarrett, Abyss and AMW in an 8-man tag team match with Shark Boy, Norman Smiley and Cassidy Riley on March 4, 2006.

Independents

Thoughout 2006 and into 2007, Segunie would continue wrestling in independent promotions. Although defeating the tag team Black Market in a handicap match four days later while in Elite Wrestling Entertainment, he and Lovett lost to Tom Lawlor and J.P. Ice at a Pro Wrestling Warfare on March 11. He also lost to “Classy” Chris Nelson on April 1 and, with The Sandman, lost to Black Market in a tables match on April 28.

Loosing to Scott Davis in a 3-way match with Steve Madison at a Pro Wrestling World 1 event on July 1, he defeated Octavio Olivieri on August 31 in Elite Wrestling Entertainment and "The Marquee" Bruce Santee in AWA World 1 South on January 14, 2007.

Walter J. Phillips

Template:Afc a

Template:Tlx Good sources; asserts notability. Could use some formatting. Shalom (HelloPeace) 19:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Walter Joseph Phillips was born 1884 at Barton-on-Humber in Lincolnshire, England, the son of Reverend John Phillips, a Methodist minister. In his teens, he attended the Birmingham School of Art once a week, studying under Edward R. Taylor. He went to South Africa for a few years in the hope of earning enough money there to be able to study art in Paris, but returned with little more than he left with. By 1908 he had worked as a commercial artist in Manchester and London, then from 1908 to 1911 served as art master at Bishop Woodworth School in Salisbury, England.

In 1911, he held his first solo show in Salisbury which was both critically and financially successful. Eventually, he and his wife Gladys Pitcher, whom he had married in December 1910, decided to emigrate to Canada, arriving in Winnipeg in June, 1913. Shortly after his arrival, a fellow artist he met taught him etching technique and sold him his tools.

From 1915 to 1918, he produced etchings in very small editions, subsequently switching to colour woodcut prints, a medium he found more to his liking. During the summers of 1917 and 1919, Phillips taught at the University of Wisconsin, and by then his works had commanded national and international attention. By 1923 he had published forty-two colour woodcuts, and in a burst of productivity between 1926 and 1928 he produced thirty-nine. By now, he had wellestablished his own pattern of making woodcuts: a graphite sketch; next, a finished watercolour; another sketch to compose the woodcut, and then the final print.

Phillips was so highly regarded that during the Great Depression he was one of a handful of artists who could live off the sale of his paintings and woodcuts. From 1925 to 1935 his subjects were mainly from the Prairies, but by 1946 most of his subjects were from the Rocky Mountains. He also continued to be a prolific book illustrator. In 1940 he became a staff member of the Banff Summer School of Fine Arts and in 1941 moved to Calgary to take up the position of instructor at the Institute of Technology and Art, where he stayed until 1949. In 1953 he moved to Banff where he lived in a house on Tunnell Mountain.

By 1958 Phillips' eyesight began failing, and in 1960 he retired to Victoria. In 1963, Walter Joseph Phillips died in Victoria at the age of 78. His ashes were scattered in the Alberta mountains he had loved so much and which had provided him with so many of his subjects.

Famoso Raceway (Dragstrip)

Template:Afc a

Template:Tlx Unsure of the notability; 22,000 Google hits is probably good enough, given the available sources and the long history. Shalom (HelloPeace) 19:55, 25 September 2007 (UTC) The Famoso Raceway dragstrip is located north of Bakersfield, California, and is known historically as the home to the annual March Meet, also known as the U.S. Fuel and Gas Championships. The strip, located on Famoso Road between Highway 99 and Highway 65 east of the Highway 99 and Highway 46 interchange, was originally built in World War II as an auxillary training base for the nearby Army Air Corps training base at Shafter's Minter Field. After World War II, the Army abandoned the field. It was in the 1950's that an aspiring group of drag racing pioneers from the Bakersfield area, the Bakersfield Smokers, purchased the strip and made the necessary adjustments to allow for drag racing. The Famoso Raceway hosted the first ever March Meet in 1959 and it helped establish the fledgling National Hot Rod Association's (NHRA) legitimacy.

Today the Famoso Raceway still hosts the March Meet but it is now strictly a nostalgic hot rod and dragster event. The track also hosts fuel-altered events and the annual California Hot Rod Reunion in October as well as a high school racing series and other smaller events. It is still ran by the Bakersfield Smokers but with major sponsorship from the Automobile Club of Southern California which also sponsors NASCAR and NHRA events and tracks throughout Southern California.

Bella Gahlos

Template:Afc r

Bella Gahlos is one of three East Timorese who have defected to Canada. She was only three years old when Indonesia invaded her country. Her two young brothers were beaten to death and her father was thrown into jail when the Indonesian military entered her home in January 1976. After the Dili massacre, her older brother was jailed and brutally tortured for having made a "Free East Timor" T-shirt worn by some of the demonstrators.

Although she focused on her personal experience as a young survivor of the Indonesian occupation, Bella also addressed U.S. complicity in the invasion and occupation of East Timor and the United States government's continuing military and economic support for the brutal Suharto regime.

In her talks, Bella often recounted her experience with Indonesia's forced sterilization of Timorese women and girls. She was only thirteen years old when the military came to her school and asked all the young women to line up after forcing the boys to leave the room.

"They told us we needed to be injected to stay healthy," she explained. "I was frightened; I didn't trust them. Five of them had to hold me down, and they had a very hard time. Then they came to my home the same week and injected me again."

Much later, with the help of Bishop Belo, she discovered that she and her classmates had been injected with Depo-Provera (a birth control drug).

Bella also spoke of living under a constant fear of being raped: "Women in East Timor are raped all the time by the military. They just come into your home and force you."

Bella began to work with the underground resistance in 1989, helping to plan demonstrations and convincing other women to take an active role in the movement. In 1991, Bella helped to organize the peaceful march to the Santa Cruz cemetery in Dili. When the Indonesian military opened fire on the demonstration, Bella managed to get herself and her pregnant aunt over the high cemetery walls to safety. More than 250 of her friends were not so lucky, being brutally killed in the massacre.

In the aftermath of the massacre Bella joined the Indonesian military youth corps to mask her involvement in the demonstration. For three years the Indonesian authorities trained her to fight against her own people. During this time, Bella secretly used her army salary to help the resistance movement.

In 1994, after months of interrogation and instruction, the Indonesian government selected Bella to represent East Timorese youth in the Canada World Youth program. She was well trained to speak to the Canadian media and to portray Suharto's propaganda machine's version of a "typical" young Timorese _ educated, successful, and pro-integration.

Bella defected after her arrival in Canada with the help of her uncle, Constâncio Pinto, who had escaped East Timor shortly after the Dili massacre. Since then, Bella has been perfecting her English and touring Canada to speak for her country's freedom.

Nash functions and manifolds

Template:Afc a

Nash functions

In real algebraic geometry, a Nash function on an open semialgebraic subset U of Rn is an analytic function f: U -> R satisfying a non trivial polynomial equation P(x,f(x)) = 0 for all x in U. (A semi-algebraic subset of Rn is a subset obtained from subsets of the form {x in Rn : P(x)=0} or {x in Rn : P(x) > 0}, where P is a polynomial, by taking finite unions, finite intersections and complements.) Polynomial and regular rational functions are Nash functions; the function x1+x2 is Nash on R; the function which associates to a real symmetric matrix its i-th eigenvalue (in increasing order) is Nash on the open subset of symmetric matrices with no multiple eigenvalue. Actually, Nash functions are those functions needed in order to have an implicit function theorem in real algebraic geometry.

Nash manifolds

Along with Nash functions one defines Nash manifolds, which are semialgebraic analytic submanifolds of some Rn. A Nash mapping between Nash manifolds is then an analytic mapping with semialgebraic graph. Nash functions and manifolds are named after John F. Nash, who proved (1952) that any compact C manifold admits a Nash manifold structure, i.e., is diffeomorphic to some Nash manifold. More generally, a C manifold admits a Nash manifold strucure if and only if it is diffeomorphic to the interior of some compact C manifold possibly with boundary. Nash's result was later (1973) completed by Alberto Tognoli who proved that any compact C manifold is diffeomorphic to some affine real algebraic manifold ; actually, any Nash manifold is Nash diffeomorphic to an affine real algebraic manifold. These results exemplify the fact that the Nash category is somewhat intermediate between the C and the algebraic categories.

Local properties

The local properties of Nash functions are well understood. The ring of germs of Nash functions at a point of a Nash manifold of dimension n is isomorphic to the ring of algebraic power series in n variables (i.e., those series satisfying a non trivial polynomial equation), which is the henselization of the ring of germs of rational functions. In particular, it is a regular local ring of dimension n.

Global properties

The global properties are more difficult to obtain. The fact that the ring of Nash functions on a Nash manifold (even non compact) is noetherian was proved independently (1973) by Jean-Jacques Risler and Gustave Efroymson. Nash manifolds have properties similar to but weaker than Cartan's theorems A and B on Stein manifolds. Let 𝒩 denote the sheaf of Nash function germs on a Nash manifold M, and be a coherent sheaf of 𝒩-ideals. Assume is finite, i.e., there exists a finite open semialgebraic covering {Ui} of M such that, for each i, |Ui is generated by Nash functions on Ui. Then is globally generated by Nash functions on M, and the natural map

H0(M,𝒩)H0(M,𝒩/)

is surjective. However H1(M,𝒩)0 if dim M > 0, contrarily to the case of Stein manifolds.

Generalizations

Nash functions and manifolds can be defined over any real closed field instead of the field of real numbers, and the above statements still hold. Abstract Nash functions can also be defined on the real spectrum of any commutative ring.

Otto Ulseth

Template:Afc r Otto Ulseth is a Norwegian sports writer and football coach.

Ulseth worked for the Trondheim-based newspaper Adresseavisa before being picked up as assistant coach to Per-Mathias Høgmo for Tromsø I.L. before the 2004-season. Together with Høgmo, he lead the team to a 4th place in the Norwegian Tippeligaen, their best result since the 2000-season, when the team also won a 4th place. Following Høgmo's decision to leave the club at the end the 2004-season, Ulseth accepted the position as head coach on November 17, 2004. [1] At first, he was skeptical of accepting the job offer, and Tromsø I.L. went looking for another head coach. However, after both Per Joar Hansen and Arne Erlandsen had turned the job down, Ulseth stated he gave in to the pressure and accepted the position. [2]

Following a string of bad results, and 9 consecutive matches without a win, Ulseth was fired from his position on August 2, 2005, and his assistant Steinar Nilsen was promoted into his place. [3] The decision to fire Ulseth was critizised by both sports writers and other football coaches who thought it would do Tromsø I.L. no good, and eventually lead to relegation for the club. [4] [5]However, the club started picking up wins after Ulseth's removal, and avoided relegation. Ulseth went back to his job at Adresseavisa following his departure from Tromsø I.L.

On September 25, 2007, recently appointed head coach of Iraq, Egil "Drillo" Olsen, announced that Ulseth would become his assistant coach at Iraq. [6]

'A marketing Extranet is the most effective and efficient way to coordinate a geographically disparate agency network. In the simplest terms, it's a password-protected Web site that is used to coordinate PR activity and share information between separate client offices and PR agency network.

Much more than just a web-based shared file repository, the Extranet is designed to provide a conduit for all PR activity, including centralised planning and live reporting. The benefits of such a system include coherent and unified messaging, a significant reduction in administration time and complete transparency between client and agency. It makes network coordination as easy as pressing a few buttons and provides the client with an at-a-glance window on all network activity.
Bullet Online's solution, the PR Pipeline, acts as a workflow management system, using database-driven processes to manage administrative procedures, such as document approval and distribution, and to coordinate entire campaigns. The Extranet can easily be extended to include information and procedures that apply to all marketing disciplines and not just PR - indeed, it is the perfect forum for the cross-fertilisation of ideas and concepts across marketing disciplines and considerably aids the coordination of multi-layered marketing campaigns.
The Extranet allows online and centralised way for agencies to report back to their clients using graphs and reports to demonstrate how money spent in on PR campaigns relates to results across multiple regions, Justifying spend and supporting key arguments for future budget allocation.'

Online Press Office
'Keeping the media informed 24/7 could not be easier with an online press office. BulletOnline's press office allows an organisation to provide full content control to its PR agency, thereby outsourcing all the communications and legal issues associated with press information today.
More than just a store of press releases, a successful online press office should also contain publishable photography, biographies of key spokespeople, contact details, podcasts, vidcasts, RSS feeds and any other collateral that the PR agency produces on a company's behalf.'

CrisEase - Crisis Managment System
BulletOnline's CrisEase product was developed in association with Coca-Cola Asia.
The system uses the latest Internet technology to take users through each crisis in a step-by-step manner. The user answers a few simple questions and, based on their responses to these questions, CrisEase provides them with a series of simple steps to carry out, each relevant to the specific crisis that's taken place.
Where talking points or media holding statements are required, the system can provide those too. Designed to 'hand-hold' even the most junior spokesperson through the pressure-cooker situation of handling a crisis, CrisEase is a must for any company serious about maintaining its reputation.

Messaging Architecture

Already deployed by companies like Oracle, Sun Microsystems, and AMD BulletOnline's messaging architecture product allows simple, at-a-glance access to the latest company key messages, with corroborative information (such as proof points, case studies, independent comment etc) only a click away.
The messaging architecture reproduces, graphically, the key messages associated with a company, issue or campaign. Clicking on each 'message' takes the user to the key talking points and a host of proof points to back them up (inc. case studies, third party advocacy and so on). It's designed to be updated 'on the fly', so that messages can be always kept up to date.

Joseph Steffan (born 1964 in Warren, Minnesota) is an American lawyer and gay activist. He was expelled from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis in 1987 after revealing his homosexuality to his commanding officer. In 1988, Steffan, represented by the Lambda Legal Defense Fund, sued for reinstatement. His case was unique in that he was accused of no homosexual conduct; his separation from the military was predicated solely upon his admission of homosexuality. In 1991, U.S. District Judge Oliver Gasch ruled in favor of the Navy in the case of Steffan v. Cheney. Upon appeal, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1992 reversed the district court decision and found in favor of Steffan, but the full court overturned the decision the next year and Steffan decided not to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

While the case was pending, Steffan finished college at the University of North Dakota and law school at the University of Connecticut. He is now a lawyer in New York City.

Mick Lee (born February 13, 1983 in Schenectady, NY) is a radio disc jockey currently working at KKRZ, Z100 in Portland, OR as the 3-7pm afternoon host. He also serves as the stations assistant program director and imaging director.

Before joing KKRZ in May 2007, Lee also spent time at WKKF-Albany, NY, WFLY-Albany, NY, WIHT-Washington, DC and WKSI-Winchester, VA.

Mick is known for his witty phone conversations with callers and his smooth delivery in air. At age 23, Lee had an amazing opportunity to be the assistant program director and afternoon host at HOT99.5 (WIHT) in Washington DC which was short lived due to a voice tracking error. He rebounded doing afternoons at WFLY in Albany. Again, it was short lived and he made his final and current move to KKRZ-Portland.

John Son

Template:Afc r

John Son was born in Eickelborn, (West) Germany, in 1969. His parents had immigrated there in the mid-1960s (his father as a coal miner, then translater; his mother as a nurse). A little over two years later, the Son family moved to Chicago, Illinois. A few years on the family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, where his sister Agnes was born, and the family opened their first business, a wig store. In 1976, the Son family moved to Houston, Texas. Son lived there until he went to the University of Texas at Austin and studied Architecture and Advertising before finally receiving a B.A. in English. While in Austin he discovered a passion for music, as well as movies. He also realized he wanted to be a writer. In 1995 he moved to New York City, where he currently resides.

John Son writes both adult literary fiction and children's/YA. His first published story "This Close" appeared in the Fall 1999 issue of Zoetrope-All Story. In his debut autobiographical novel, Finding My Hat, he provides readers with an insightful coming-of-age story that also illustrates the immigrant experience. Gillian Engberg, reviewing Finding My Hat for Booklist, enjoyed Son's book, commenting that "readers of all backgrounds will recognize themselves in this absorbing novel." "This quiet story shows how unembellished obstervation can be quite moving, from hats lost in the wind to a shocking and powerful event at the end," stated a Kirkus Reviews critic, while Ashley Larsen wrote in School Library Journal that Son has produced "a beautifully written and deeply personal account of growing up."

He has been exhibiting since 1972. His work is in major collections in Mexico, the National Palace and the collections of the last three presidents. In Europe, the great collector late Florence Gould had at her house at Cap D'Antibes, a landscape of the New York skyline view from her apartment; H.M. The King of Spain is also a great admirer. While at the Art Institute of San Francisco, he studied all these disciplines and pursued both a film and theater career. In 1976 he began to devote himself solely to painting and sculpture. He works primarily in the metamorphic style - using a technique of superimposing and juxtaposing realistic and figurative details within the images that he creates. Celebrity portraits for which Ocampo has been commissioned in the United States include President Jimmy Carter (commissioned by President Lopez Portillo and was presented as a gift from the United Mexican States), Jane Fonda, Cher (for the front and back covers of her latest album), and Cesar Chavez.

Ocampo now works and resides in Tepoztlan, north of Mexico City, considered by many to be one of the most magical places on earth.

Se-Abra

Template:Afc r

Tenho dito

PARA VOCÊSES MAUKONAS!!!
