Usage

This template calculates escape velocity v₂ of a spherical body of the mass M and radius R:

$v_2=\sqrt{\frac{2GM}{R}},$

where G is the Newtonian constant of gravitation. The template should be used in the following way:

where M is body's mass in 10²¹ kg, R is radius in km and PRE is the number of digits after decimal point in the result (default is 3). The result is expressed in km/s.

Example (escape velocity of Titania): M = Template:Val, R = 788.9 km.

v₂ = Template:V2 km/s.
