- ATP + UDP-N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanyl-D-glutamate + D-lysine ADP + phosphate + UDP-N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanyl-D-glutamyl-D-lysine
The enzyme from Thermotoga maritima also performs the reaction of EC 6.3.2.7.
