Summary

Description
English: The sigmary numeral system is associated with silver ratio 1 + √2, satisfying σ2 = 2σ + 1. The steps in the sigmary scale resemble the intervals of the Mixolydian mode in Pythagorean tuning. Progression to the next octave is paralleled by the carry in 21 and 22. With the steps as exponents, the major tone and diatonic semitone have ratios 25 − 2σ and 25σ − 12. The scale is generated by fifth 23 − σ. The size of the sigmary comma is calculated from its exponent as 1200 * (29 − 12σ) ≈ 35.32 cents.
