English: Capture of Jerusalem by Herod the Great in 36 BC. B.C. Flavius Josephus, Jewish Antiquities, illumination by Jean Fouquet, around 1470-1475. Paris, BnF, Manuscripts Department, NAF 21013, fol. 1v. (Book XV). In 36 BC. B.C., Herod the Great enters Jerusalem as victorious. Behind him, in the probatic pool, Jean Fouquet represented the murder by drowning of the high priest Aristobulus III. In the background, the high priest celebrates worship in the shrine of the Temple of Jerusalem.
