Description
English: Idealized cross section of continental lithosphere displaying different overall thickness characteristics of Archean, Proterozoic and Phanerozoic crust and lithospheric mantle. Lithosphere beneath Archean regions is of the order of 200–250 km thick and oceanic lithosphere is up to 100 km. Abbreviation: cb, cratonic basin; LIP, large igneous province; MOR, mid-ocean ridge.
