    Summary

    Description
English: Plot of the position in space, as of the instant of midnight TT 1 January 2026, of 5824 trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), mostly in the Kuiper Belt. Positions of KBOs and the outer planets are in the J2000 ecliptic frame, with the z-axis normal to Earth's orbit as of 1 January 2000 and the x-axis oriented toward the March equinox. For planets, positions should be exact. For minor bodies, positions are extrapolated from other epochs (mostly MJD 61000.0, 21 November 2025) assuming purely Keplerian motion.

Colors show the Trans-Neptunian objects' main dynamical categories. The size of each dot is scaled to the size of the object, and notable objects are labeled.

For a few large objects, the diameter drawn represents actual measurements, obtained via stellar occultation, thermal emission, or direct imaging. For all others, the circles represent the assumed diameter based on the mean albedo for each dynamical category.

Size data is from Johnston's Archive (19 January 2026): https://johnstonsarchive.net/astro/tnoslist.html.

Orbital data is from JPL Solar System Dynamics (21 January 2026): https://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/tools/sbdb_query.html
