This image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}. It is recommended to name the SVG file “Gravity anomaly gn.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
Summary
DescriptionGravity anomaly gn.png
English: This image shows a hypothetical gravity measurement. The red point marked is the measured gravity at a point on the surface of the earth. The green point is the normal gravity calculated for that latitude and longitude, which lies on the reference ellipsoid. In this hypothetical example, the reference ellipsoid is located well below the surface point measured. Other influences on the gravity value are the tidal forces of the sun and moon, the gravitational perturbation due to local terrain, and the gravitational perturbation due to a subsurface body of dense rock.
