    Summary

    Description
    English: Geological map of Egypt
    Date
Source This is a modified version of Wiki Commons map at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Geological_map_of_Egypt.png This version makes the map accessible to color blind users (by adding a textual key for the varous colors). The original map is from a journal article: https://pubs.geoscienceworld.org/gsl/jgs/article/174/2/301/317987/A-detrital-record-of-the-Nile-River-and-its That article has "open access" status indicated on the publisher's web site at https://pubs.geoscienceworld.org/gsl/jgs/article/174/2/301/317987/A-detrital-record-of-the-Nile-River-and-its That website shows an "open access" icon (unlocked padlock) for this specific article. The same publisher's website has a permissions page at https://www.lyellcollection.org/publishing-hub/permissions-policy. That Permissions page states: "Open Access articles: In general, content published as part of an Open Access (OA) article – under a CC-BY license, – can be used freely without the need for formal permission. However, when reusing content (figures, images and so forth), authors must acknowledge the author and the source of the material. In addition, authors should check each figure caption to make sure the figure for reuse does not require permission from an original source. Articles seeking to reuse more than 25% of an OA article, may be deemed to be duplicating publication and be in contravention of publishing ethics. ... OA articles (denoted by a CC-BY license and/or the OA padlock logo) can be shared and posted to websites or servers without permission. However, if you reuse figures or other parts of the article, you must acknowledge the source of the material and comply with normal publishing ethics." [boldface emphasis added] The "open access" icon on the article page, in conjunction with the publisher's express permission policy (quoted green text above) demonstrates that this is a free-to-use image, provided that (a) a "CC-by" license is used; and (b) Attribution to the authors is provided. The licensing details were verified by User:Noleander on 26 February 2026.
