President Obama presented the 2012 National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation laureates with their medals at a White House ceremony on Nov. 20, 2014. The medals are the nation’s highest honors for achievement and leadership in advancing the fields of science and technology. Thomas Kailath of Stanford University received the National Medal of Science for “transformative contributions to the field of information and systems science, for distinctive and sustained mentoring of young scholars, and for translation of scientific ideas into entrepreneurial ventures that have had a significant impact on industry.” Find out more about the recipients of the National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation in this NSF press release.
