Special thanks to Adam Riess, who invented the original version of this illustratioon. Key: CMB (cosmic microwave background), WMAP (Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe), BAO (Baryonic Acoustic Oscillation), BB (Big Bang) nucleosynthesis, DES (Dark Energy Survey), Lambda CDM (Lambda Cold Dark Matter), TRGB (Tip of the red-giant branch).
