DescriptionAchlys topographic feature diagram.svg
English: Infographic illustrating the topographic feature of 208996 Achlys (represented as an ellipsoid) seen during a stellar occultation on 2014 Nov 15. The path of the occulted star relative to Achlys is represented by the cyan arrow, which is shown fading gradually to dark blue (representing the gradual fading brightness of the occulted star) as it runs through the edge of Achlys. This gradual fading is caused by the topographic feature at the edge of Achlys, which could either be a chasm with steep walls (upper right plot) or a wide depression with shallow slopes (lower right plot). The chasm and depression shape is adapted from Figure 13 of Dias-Oliveira et al. (2017). The ellipsoid was rendered in Python via matplotlib; the rest of the diagram was made in Inkscape.
