On Zriaa's claimed proof of Lehmer's totient problem

I'm reading Said Zriaa's claimed proof of Lehmer's totient problem, and I follow up until the very last point, where Zriia claims that $\prod _{j=1}^r{p}_j-1$ cannot divide $\sum _{j=1}^{r-1}{\sigma }_j(p_1-1,\dots ,p_r-1)$ because of lemma 2.2. In particular, I understand why lemma 2.2 holds for inequality for polynomials, but is there any particular reason why it should hold for constant $x_j=p_j-1$?
