- Suspected sockpuppets
- Evidence submitted by Eubulides
This user and these IP addresses keep erasing the proof that and substituting another proof. The user and IP addresses do not discuss edits and do not respond to talk-page requests. I became involved when Zahlentheorie asked for a WP:3O; see Talk:Proofs involving the totient function #Edit war on this page.
Here's the chronology, with suspected sockpuppets in bold (all times UTC):
- 2009-07-24 16:20 Prmishra1 installs the change (several adjacent edits).
- 2009-07-24 19:48 Zahlentheorie reverts most it.
- 2009-07-25 04:23 Prmishra1 installs a different version, but it's basically the same new proof.
- 2009-07-25 19:48 Zahlentheorie reverts again, suggests talk page
- 2009-07-26 02:54 59.180.7.238 reinstalls Prmishra1's most recent version
- 2009-07-26 15:55 Zahlentheorie reverts again, asks for mediation
- 2009-07-27 02:23 Prmishra1 reinstalls change
- 2009-07-27 17:36 Zahlentheorie reverts again, says he'll ask for page protection
- 2009-07-28 02:05 59.180.127.247 reinstalls change
- 2009-07-28 02:19 Eubulides (that's me) reverts
- 2009-07-28 12:34 59.180.44.246 reinstalls change
- 2009-07-28 15:27 Eubulides reverts
- 2009-07-28 16:51 Prmishra1 reinstalls change
- 2009-07-28 21:31 Zahlentheorie reverts
- 2009-07-29 01:23 59.180.105.199 reinstalls change

This looks like someone forgetting to log in to me, rather than any kind of abusive sockpuppetry. Prmishra1 may be involved in an edit war, and should be admonished for that, but that's not what WP:SPI is for. —David Eppstein (talk) 20:36, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment; I'm no expert in these matters. An admin just semiprotected the page, which should fix forget-to-login problems in the near future. Eubulides (talk) 21:02, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- The most recent four edits listed above, if the IPs are the same person as Prmishra1, already exceed 3RR. (Forgetting to log in does not exempt an editor from 3RR). Neither Prmishra1 nor the IPs have chosen to participate on Talk. I've semiprotected Proofs involving the totient function but other admins may adjust this as they think best. I agree that the case is blatant enough that no checkuser should be needed, and we should probably block Prmishra1 for 3RR if this continues. With the article semiprotected, he will have to perform any additional reverts using his own account. This case has also been discussed at WT:WPM#Strangest edit war I've ever seen. After the edit war is sorted out, closing this as a sock case would be reasonable. EdJohnston (talk) 21:06, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Template:Userlinks is now blocked 31 hours for edit warring, since he has continued to revert to his own version after multiple warnings, and has made no effort to communicate. EdJohnston (talk) 03:07, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

- Clerk, patrolling admin and checkuser comments
- Template:Clerknote Looks like standard logging in/out to me. I would recommend proceeding on this assumption; I don't think that there is any need to run a checkuser for this. Marking for archiving upon review. NW (Talk) 04:34, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
