Saint Laura
Saint Laura, also known as Saint Laura of Cordoba, or Santa Laura de Cordova, was a Spanish religious sister who lived in Muslim Spain during the 9th century. She was born in Cordoba, and became a nun at Cuteclara after her husband died. She was an abbess. She was martyred in a horrific fashion by Muslims who took her captive and scalded her to death by placing her in a vat of boiling lead. She died in 864, and her feast day is on October 19.
Things named after her include the Estadio Santa Laura (ie. Saint Laura Stadium) in Santiago, Chile and the Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Works in Northern Chile.

The Empty
Following the release of their 2004 self-titled EP and the surprising success of their subsequent summer tour, Portlands The Empty have given birth to their much anticipated first full-length, More Positive Material. In the fall of 2004, Singer Sean Dant, guitarist Bobby Dezfulli, and bassist Jake Schmitt took a hiatus from their live performance to experiment with new instruments and provide full attention to the songwriting process. The Empty reemerged into the Northwest scene after six challenging months of acoustic writing sessions and countless hours in cramped apartment studios and friend's garages. Uniting with long lost pal, drummer Matt Humiston, for the recording process in March 2005, the Empty now deliver on their Greyday records debut "More Positive Material

Random Projection
Random Projection is a dimensionality reduction method. The original data is projected onto a lower-dimensional subspace by a random transformation matrix with unit-length columns. Random Project does not perform as well as Principal Component Analysis at preserving inter-point distances but is computationally cheaper.

Travis Khan
Travis Khan was born in 1990 and started to play the Guitar soon after his birth, some even say that he was Crossing the Rubicon in the womb. And to this day if you ask his Mother she will swear that she heard the sounds of Mea Culpa during the pregnancy, although many dismiss her claims as after one interview with reporter Diane Foster she yelled out "YOU KNOW WHAT DIANE" and pushed her down a flight of stairs. A civil suit was filed but no one followed up on the verdict... which was Death.
But Travis is most well known for his Role in The Human Abstract as the Lead Everything player.

Joshua Loring (1716-October 1781) was an 18th century colonial American naval officer in British service. During the French and Indian War, he served as a commodore in the Great Lakes region and was active during much of the Ontario and Quebec campaigns.
Biography
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Loring was apprenticed as a tanner but instead chose to enlist the Royal Navy as a young man. He rose to command a privateer during King George's War, however he was captured by the French in 1744. Held as a prisoner in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia for several months, he was eventually released and was made a captain on December 19, 1757. During the French and Indian War, he was involved in naval operations on Lake George and Lake Champlain in 1759 and served under General James Wolfe at the capture of Quebec later that year. Transferred to Lake Ontario, he commanded the advance guard at the Battle of the Thousand Islands while accompanying Field Marshal Jeffrey Amherst to Montreal in August 1760. In the final months of the war, Loring was seriously wounded at an engagement on Lake Ontario and retired at half-pay due to his injuries. [1]
Loring settled in Jamaica Plain and lived at Loring-Greenough House for over a decade. He was also appointed a member of the governor's council by Governor Thomas Gage, a position which he served until the onset of the American Revolutionary War. He was denounced by the Provisional Congress as "an implacable enemy to their country" on March 30, 1775 and, following the Battle of Lexington the next month, Loring rode to Boston by horseback and armed with a pistol. On his way to Boston, he stopped to visit an old friend who asked of his intentions. Loring reportedly replied "I have always eaten the King's bread, and always intend to."
Arriving in Boston, he boarded a ship for England forced to leave his home and belongs behind. His estate was later confiscated by the state in 1779. He received a royal pension until his death at Highgate, England in 1781. His son, Joshua Loring, Jr., later became a high-sheriff in Suffolk County, Massachusetts [2] and was a Deputy Commissary of American prisoners-of-war in New York from 1777 until 1783. His other sons, Sir John Wentworth Loring and Henry Lloyd Loring also had successful careers in the service of Britain, the latter becoming an archdeacon of Calcutta. [3]

Givat Ha-Mivtar
Givta Ha-Mivtar (Ammunition Hill) is a living quarter in NorthJerusalem. It is located between French Hill (Givat Zarfatit), Shu'fat, and Ramat Eshkol. It is relatively small, only 588 dunums and located on a hill over a forest. In 2005 about 3000 people lived in Givat Ha-Mivtar.[2]
Givat Ha-Mivatr has two synagogues, one ashkenasi synagogue on the top of the hill and a new sfaradi synagogue, which is still under construction.
The area was once Jordanian, in the 1967-war it was annexed to Israel, like most of the neighboring land also. After the construction of houses on the formerly empty land began, building contractors uncovered a Jewish tomb dated to the first century after the death of Christ. It contained a crucified man in his twenties, with the Hebrew name 'Jehohanan ben ha galgol (son of galgol). The evidence for this was based on the right calcaneum (heel bone) of the individual, pierced by an iron nail 11.5 cms. in length.[3]

Olli
Olli is a well known figure in modern popular culture in Flanders, the northern region of Belgium. He appears in all kinds of (urban) legends, and descriptions of his personality vary depending on the region where the stories are told. Very popular amongst the Flemish youth is an abstract poem; written in jambic verses with variating rhyme schemes. It is not yet know by whom the poem was written; it is assumed that it started as a joke by some students who wrote the poem, inspired by all the urban legens about Olli circulating.
The Poem (Dutch)
Jij lieve psychopaat. Het is slechts een gedicht! Mijn mede-blokker's plicht.

Johny was first seen as a dark haired, piercing green eyes wannabe model. America's Next Top Male Model, a spin-off of America's Next Top Model, publicized him. Photo after photo he was phenomenal, and after a long debate by the judges, Johny V beat out Eden Sanchez for the title of "America's Next Top Male Model."
His TV name of "Johny V," appeared when he was a judge for Iron Chef America. No one really knows how it started. He took off from there appearing on the Soup, Project Runway, and as a guest judge for ANTMM cycle 2. Also an aspiring designer, Johny V will stay around the fame game for a long time.
