The paragraph below states that the range of φ it gives is [-π/2, 3π/2), which is inconsistent with the next set of formulas, where it is (-π, π]. A quick investigation reveals that changing the sign on π in the final case moves that part of the function from (π, 3π/2) to (-π, -π/2), making the function consistent with the other one and symmetrical around 0.
